September Photos

We are filling up the hallways with art related to the songs we are learning in music class this year. I may be biased, but I think we have some outstanding young artists. I can't wait to see what more they can create this school year!

Our first foray into painting with Kindergarten/1st Grade! "Muddy Pig" to go with our Barnyard Song.

A Barnyard from 4th Graders and a shape study of ducks from 2nd/3rd Grade to go with our Barnyard Song.

We listened to the Star-Spangled Banner on Constitution Day.
4th Grade then created a multi-day, multi-media silhouette project with computer graphics and pastels.
5th Grade used watercolors and pastels to vibrantly bring the Statue of Liberty to life!

5th Grade studied rhythms and practiced them with basketballs.
Then they created a basketball-themed art project.
If you have a 5th Grader and a basketball, ask them to show you what they learned!

First Week of Music: Down on the Farm

Hello, and welcome!

I am so excited to begin the 2018-19 school year.  We are starting with a farm animal theme in grades K-4.  The students are very good already at making all sorts of animal noises! If you would like to follow along with lessons at home, I have some links below. Of course reading your favorite animal themed book with your student or singing Old MacDonald together would be a great way to spend time at home!
Here is a link to fast-paced version of The Barnyard Song we are singing in class. Ask your student to sing too!

Here is a link to How to Draw a Cartoon Sheep.  I use this website often in class, and the students love following along - we already drew the "Cartoon Farmer" in grades 2-4, and drew farm animals in grades K-1. You can find it in Friday Folders.

Musically Yours,

Mrs. Wolter

The 2nd & 3rd Grade students learned all about the instruments of the orchestra with this website from Carnegie Hall.  Check it out and play at home. Can YOU find all the instruments?
